Our Story

War Dog Offroad began long before it had a name.

A Passion Long in the Making

Jeff has spent most of his life building, creating, modifying, and fabricating. He served in the United States Marine Corps as an M1A1 tank mechanic and later worked as a test engineer for General Dynamics. He has also had a lifelong passion for off-roading and, for years, dreamed of someday creating his own line of off-road products — products built the way he believed they should be built.

The Day Everything Changed

Brittney knew absolutely nothing about Jeeps when the two of them walked into a dealership in the summer of 2023.

Jeff was there to buy a Gladiator. While they were there, Brittney happened to spot a Granite Crystal Metallic Wrangler JLU sitting on the lot. Within an hour, she had traded in her Lexus, bought the Wrangler, and unknowingly stepped into an entirely different life.

The first time she took it off-road, she was hooked.

What had always been Jeff's passion quickly became something they loved together, and eventually something the entire family embraced. Today, their family fleet includes Jeff's 2022 Gladiator Mojave, Brittney's 2021 Wrangler Sahara JLU, a 1956 Willys CJ-2A, their son's 2005 Wrangler TJ, and a Jeep J10 belonging to Brittney's father — the truck he had dreamed of owning as a young man and finally decided to find after watching his daughter discover Jeep life.

The Problem on the Trail

But the idea that would eventually become War Dog Offroad really began in January 2025.

Anyone who seriously wheels a Jeep Gladiator knows the factory bed can be a problem on the trail. There is a lot of truck hanging behind the rear axle, and the stock bed has a tendency to find rocks, ledges, and obstacles before the tires do.

Jeff wanted something shorter for his own Gladiator — something that would dramatically improve clearance without looking like an afterthought. At the time, he couldn't find anything that gave him what he wanted.

Drawing inspiration from the Kaiser M715 military truck, Jeff fabricated a custom bobbed Gladiator bed that combined the rugged, utilitarian character of the old military Jeep with the lines of a modern Gladiator.

He built it for himself. There was no business plan behind it.

Then People Started Stopping Us

At Jeep events, on the trail, at gas stations, and in parking lots, people wanted to know where the bed came from. The reaction was almost always the same when they learned Jeff had built it himself.

Brittney saw the opportunity almost immediately. She had been pushing Jeff to sell the bed from the time he finished it because the interest was impossible to ignore. It also became obvious very quickly that the design connected with something deeply ingrained in Jeep culture: owners want their vehicles to be different.

For many people, their Jeep is an extension of their personality. The bed Jeff created certainly reflected his. It was rugged, functional, unmistakably different, and built to take abuse. Jeff had designed it around two priorities: it had to look right, and it had to be tough enough to actually wheel.

That philosophy eventually became the foundation of the War Dog Offroad M1. And the attention around that first bed became the beginning of War Dog Offroad.

How We Work

The company brings together two very different backgrounds. Jeff leads product development, design, prototyping, testing, and fabrication. Brittney leads the business side — operations, finance, customer relationships, marketing, partnerships, sales, content, and growth.

War Dog Offroad also became something more personal for both of them. For Jeff and Brittney, creating War Dog Offroad became an opportunity to take something they loved, combine the things each of them does best, and build something together.

A Nod to Drago

The name is a nod to another important member of the family: Drago — Jeff's 190 lb Cane Corso and service dog. Jeff's love of military history — and the Cane Corso's connection to the war dogs of ancient Rome — made “War Dog” a natural name first for his Gladiator, and later for the company growing around it. Jeff jokes that while people may not remember him or Brittney, they always remember “the big black dog.”

Just Getting Started

The M1 is no longer a one-off bed built for Jeff's Jeep. It is in production, demand is growing, and additional War Dog Offroad products are already being developed. What started as one idea in a Florida garage has become something much bigger.
